Lord change my heart!
Scripture Reading -- Genesis 37:1-8 (NIV)
"Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of his other sons, because he had been born to him in his old age; and he made an ornate a robe for him." "When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him.." Gen. 37:3-4 (NIV
Joseph was loved by his father because he had Joseph in his old age. He loved him so much that he made a robe of many colors for him but this caused discord among his brothers. Jealousy and hatred were in their hearts for Joseph yet Joseph loved his brothers and wanted to be where they were instead of being at home enjoying all the attention from his father.
The family was more important to Joseph than even the dream he received from God showing that one day his brethren would bow to him.
Joseph’s brothers, on the other hand, did not embrace him. They did not accept who he was to become. Joseph’s destiny placed him in a pit, a prison, and then brought him to a palace. Yet when he saw his brethren after many years, the first thing he asked was is his father still alive? He was still focused on what is important.
What is important to you? During the holiday season or even every day for that matter, find out what’s important to you?
Don’t let the enemy drive you to do something you would regret for the rest of your life because of jealousy, hatred or unforgiveness.
Reach out to God and ask Him to cleanse your heart from all unrighteousness. To purge you from anything that would cause you to look at your family member, neighbor, co-worker or stranger in the wrong way. Let’s ask God to change us from making the type of decisions Joseph’s brothers made. Ask God to align you with His perfect will and plan for your life
"The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil." John7:7 (NIV)
